Shirokiba the Wolf-Dog
First appearance:
Something fast and powerful slammed into the rat's side, diverting its rush at Kagome so that the freight train of hair and muscle only grazed her, spinning her around and throwing her to the ground in a heap. The demon-rat slid to a stop a dozen feet away, its shoulder ripped open from the blow.
A demon aura tingled at her. At first, Kagome thought the savior standing over her was Inuyasha. But as her head cleared, she realized that the person's hair was far too short to be him. That, and he wore earthen orange and forest green battle gear, nothing like Inuyasha's red robes. He grinned down at her, baring fangs that were long and white. His eyes, while fierce, were kind and sparkled a bright gold-blue. His stance and the way he moved reminded her of Kouga, the wolf-demon...
...The newcomer reached up and tousled Inuyasha's white hair, ruffling his ears. "You little mutt! Where have you been all this time, huh?"
Kagome couldn't believe how happy the half-demon looked--it was unlike anything she'd ever seen. Inuyasha let the other up, chuckling. "I've been around. Wow, Shirokiba! What brings you all the way up here?"
"Aw...business, pal. Just business." Shirokiba got to his feet, followed shortly by Inuyasha. He looked young, like Inuyasha, but with demons you could never tell their age just by looking. The new demon's short hair was mottled with gray and brown like Kouga's but tipped with silver-gray. Like most full demons, he bore the elflike, pointed ears, and he had a wolflike tail the same color as his hair. "Heh. You grew up, little mutt."
"Shut up," Inuyasha growled good-naturedly. "It's been a long time."
..."So, Shirokiba..." Kagome began hesitantly, looking up at the older demon. He was a little taller than Inuyasha, about Sesshomaru's height. "How long have you known Inuyasha?"
Physical Description:
The first thing to remember about drawing Shirokiba is that he's a wolf-demon, not a Dog. Therefore he'll have a slightly more feral appearance; a little more quiet ferocity in his features. Yes, *spoiler alert* since he is related to Kouga, the two can be drawn very similarly. Shirokiba looks like Kouga throughout, but tweak his face a bit to make him look more mature and give him a slightly stronger, taller build--he is taller than both Inuyasha and Kouga, and has several decades more experience than either of them. His hair is not dark like Kouga's, though--it's "mottled," like the back of a wolf, with grays and browns. However, it is worn short, not in a ponytail. His eyes have that intense "wolf stare." They are a mix of blue and gold, with that striking pattern around the iris that can make them shine almost turquoise in bright light. Unlike natural dogs and wolves, the demons have eyes that are slit-pupiled, like cats.
His true form is a mix of Dog and Wolf. He is much, much smaller than Sesshomaru and Ginnezu; as we can see by Kouga and his Pack, your average wolf-demons are not as large as the Dogs. He has upright, triangular ears, as a wolf's are. He has a grace and lankiness that the Dogs do not, but he is thicker in the muzzle and broader in the chest than the Wolves. Since his mother is a Gray Dog he is predominantly a cloudy gray across face, chest, flanks, and belly, but we can see a mottled undercoat, and his neck, back, and sides bear the brindling of a wolf.
Personality and Expression:
Shirokiba wears some armor with his clothes, but it is not heavy or thick since he doesn't need all that much (like Sesshomaru); he prefers "earthen orange and forest green" as his colors, since they compliment the earthy tones of his fur. His expressions are often either level or easygoing; he is rarely angry, ruffled, or upset so when he is, it is quiet, intense, and frightening. He will often allow a small frown or smile to pass his defenses when he feels like it. He conveys great depth of understanding when speaking privately with Inuyasha; he displays intent, controlled rage when confronting Ginnezu. When he does decide to become violent when it's necessary, the ferocity with which he fights is so unlike him that it's shocking.

Ginnezu
First appearance:
Inuyasha dashed through the village, skidding to a stop in the main square and rising to his feet. The townsfolk were running about in terror, and cried out in relief as he arrived. The demon he'd sensed and scented whirled to face him.
He allowed surprise to take him for but a second. The invader was a humanoid female with long, mottled cloud-silver hair and dark amber eyes--and a dog-demon by the smell of her. A silky silver dog-tail twitched behind her, fluffed, but besides that there was little other indication of her nonhuman blood. Like Sesshomaru, her humanlike disguise was near-perfect, save her hair, eyes, and elflike ears. She wore a silver-blue and white bodysuit with a longer, lighter blue tunic/robe over it. The front of the robe was not closed, displaying the bodysuit's rather flattering emphasis on her ample figure. She had an odd, not-quite-snarl on her face.
"What are you doing here?" Inuyasha demanded curtly, tensed to fight. He was wary; he had never associated with another dog-demon save his brother--and Shirokiba, who didn't quite count.
The female dog-demon stared at him for a moment, then suddenly gasped and clutched her hands to her chest. "Oh! It's you!" Her voice was sweet and babbly, her eyes wide, innocent, and admiring. She gestured to the townsfolk. "I was just asking these nice people where I might find you, but here you are!" She danced from foot to foot, her tail wagging joyfully behind her.
Inuyasha stared incredulously at her. Now this was new; he'd never seen a demon that was such a...ditz before. "Uh...who are you?"
The girl trotted closer to him, her expression totally enraptured. "Hee hee! My name's Ginnezu--Ginnezu Gin'iroinu. I've come all the way from the Western Dog Clans to meet you!"
Physical Description:
Obviously, Ginnezu in her humanoid form is a very beautiful demon, probably on the same caliber as Sesshomaru. The trick to drawing her is that she does look like him, but her bangs are very different. Her hair is light silver, not gray, and not quite so long as his. Her eyes are not gold like Inuyasha's and Sesshomaru's; they are darker amber like most Dogs. She does not have facial stripes, but were we to look on her body there are some stripe markings there. There are three stripes on each upper arm, each thigh, and on each side of her ribs.
In her dog form, Ginnezu's fur is the same color as her hair, and the stripes are all still there. She is somewhat smaller than Sesshomaru was when we saw him transform (way back when), because she is a Silver and she is younger. As to what kind of dog she resembles, she tends toward a slightly longer-haired type, with a fluffy tail not nearly as long as Sesshomaru's. Her ears are not like Inuyasha's; they are flopped-over, not erect. While they are triangular, they fall forward and are soft, like all Silvers.
Personality and Expression:
Ginnezu tends to present a very "fluffy" image until you get on her bad side--then watch out! She's nastier than a cornered snake and much more violent than Sesshomaru ever was. She can do the "cute googly eyes" with the best of them, but don't be fooled. When she's around Inuyasha, she goes into the aptly-named "Ditz Mode" and is bubbly, cute, friendly, and perfectly harmless. (Think Hikaru from Kimagure Orange Road, if you've seen it.) Sometimes she'll lay on an alluring routine, too. When she's like that, you don't see a hint of what's going on inside her. When Inuyasha is nowhere around, however, she can be dangerous and unpredictable. Her expressions become cold, mocking, and disdainful. She is not expressionless like Sesshomaru, but rather full of negative faces. She travels through extremes of temperament very rapidly, so she can shift from "bubbly-cute" to "shocked-scandalized" to "petulant temper" to "raging demon" in the space of a few heartbeats. (If you're a Ranma fan, you can think of her as a cross somewhere between Shampoo and Kodachi--but deadlier.) You've been warned...please be careful drawing her--she might bite!
